The Space In Between: Decision Alignment
“You don’t need to do more. You need space to think.” Thu Anh Flynn
For business owners who have built something that works, and are now the person everyone depends on. On the night you’ll find out why the decisions still come back to you, build a Decision Filter for your business, and pick one decision you’re ready to hand over.
Save my seat — it’s freeIf you’ve said any of these this month, this one’s for you.
“I’m flat out.”
Everyone comes to me for everything, all day, every day.
“I’ve stopped thinking ahead.”
I’m so deep in the day-to-day that I’ve stopped thinking about where the business is actually heading.
“There’s never a clear moment.”
I know I should be working on the business, not just in it — but there’s never a clear moment to stop and do that.
“My plan is out of date.”
I haven’t updated my business plan in ages. Honestly, I’ve never had a proper one to begin with.
You leave with four things.
You’ll be writing and working during the session, not just listening. Each of these is something you build for your own business on the night.
A Decision Filter
A simple set of rules that says what your team can decide on their own, and what still needs to come to you.
A list of what only you can do
Most owners have never written this down. You’ll find where the business has ended up depending on you.
One decision to hand over
You pick a real one, run it through your filter, and work out who it goes to.
One action for this week
Small enough that you can actually do it before next Wednesday.
You can’t grow a business past what you can personally hold.
Before you can hand anything over, you need to know where you stand right now. Thu Anh uses three questions to work that out. Your answers are what you build the Decision Filter from later in the session.
Decisions · Delegation · Dollars
Decisions
How many decisions this week genuinely had to wait for you? If the number’s high, you’re the bottleneck — not because you’re doing anything wrong, but because nothing’s been built to run without you yet.
Delegation
Think of one task you handed off recently. Did it stay handed off, or did it quietly land back on your desk? That’s the real test — not whether you tried to delegate, but whether it stuck.
Dollars
If you personally couldn’t work for two weeks, what happens to your income? If the honest answer is “it stops”, that’s the clearest signal of where you stand.
Doors at 6:00. Finished by 8:00.
Doors open
Light food and snacks, and time to meet a few people before it starts.
The session
Thu Anh starts with real examples of decisions landing back on the owner. Then you draft your own Decision Filter, test it on a decision you’re facing now, and one or two get worked through live.
Questions
Open Q&A with Thu Anh until 8:00.
Come if any of these sound like you.
There’s nothing to prepare and nothing to read first. If there’s a decision you keep having to make yourself, bring it with you — you’ll use it in the session.
